E-Bill FAQs

How will I know that my online information is secure?
E-Bill utilizes SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology. All transmissions of your information to or from our server are encrypted, so no intruder can use the information.

Also, our site is hosted on secure servers so that your account activity cannot be accessed by outsiders. Your account is stored on machines protected by a network firewall that will prevent any unauthorized access to your information.

Our secure log-in process requires that you provide your email address and a password to reach your online account.

Why is E-Bill a better way of managing my account than just writing a check and sending it through the mail?
With E-Bill, you can make a payment, but you can also view your current bill detail, check your payment history or even look at an old bill. You can also print your statement from your computer. You can pay your bill even if you're out of town. And you save paper!

If I opt to use E-Bill, will I still get a paper statement in the mail every month?
You can choose to continue to receive a statement through the mail or to receive your billing electronically to your email address.

If you have several accounts, you can choose to receive paper or electronic billing for each one.

Do I have to pay all of my accounts in full at the same time?
Yes.

How do I set up an E-Bill account?
Click on the E-Bill "envelope" logo at the top of the home page, then choose to "log on." You will see the option to register as a new user. To register, you will need to type in your email address and then provide your account number and service ID number. (This information can be found on your latest statement from Darien Telephone.)

Then you can choose to view any or all of your accounts online. You can also check the box to request that you continue to get paper statements each month. Then click on "Submit."

A password will be generated for you and sent to the email address you have provided.

Once you have set up your account, you can easily access your information by logging in and typing in your password.

Obviously I can't write a check online. How do I pay my bill?
You can pay online using your debit card, American Express, MasterCard, Visa, or Discover Card.

If I choose to stop receiving paper statements, can I start them again?

What if I forget my password?
There is a link on the log-in page that will allow you to provide your email address and have your password sent to your email account.

You can also CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD by clicking on the "Change My Password" Link on the log-in page. Just enter your current password and then the new password you want to use in the appropriate fields. Click "Submit."

What if my email address changes?

Do I need a special password or can I just use something that's easy to remember?
Your password has to be at least four characters long and not more than ten characters long. For security reasons, we recommend that you use at least eight characters with a combination of letters, numbers and/or punctuation.

Once I've signed up, how do I access my account next time?
